Baby Dickson | Newborn lifestyle session

I am so so so behind on blogging.  I had 6 sessions a couple weeks ago which is a first for me in December and haven’t blogged one of them!  I am finally enjoying the holidays and have completed all my holiday orders.  If you’ll remember Claire, she came in a few weeks before she delivered as a radiant mom-to-be.  Little Cooper was nearly 9 pounds!  He is plump and precious and I spent a couple hours with them at their home when he was 7 days old.  I don’t often do lifestyle sessions in the home b/c I am a nut about  knowing my lighting conditions. It was a gray day so we didn’t have a lot to work with but I managed to squeak out a few great ones.  I really enjoyed it so I may do  more down the road.

Gift ideas for Christmas or birthday’s or anniversaries….

I love this idea!  I heard about this months ago but had forgotten about it until I heard a promo on the Today Show last week.  So many people have all the material things they need and we sometimes struggle with finding the right gift for them.  We all know money is NEVER wasted on charity.  This time of the year I love giving to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital “thanks and giving” campaign.  But I also just purchased a gift card for Jackson’s piano teacher from sixdegrees.org.  Here you can purchase an electronic or actual gift card (in any amount) and let the recipient donate to more than 1 million charities online (including Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep!) and this way you BOTH make a difference.  How brilliant is this concept?!  Moreover, if there is a crisis relief underway — i.e. the Earthquake in China, Hurricane Katrina, etc, one can also designate their dollars that way.  There is an added $5 charge for processing so that the amount you are giving is 100% donated.

In addition, you can create a profile for yourself with a listing of your favorites.

Happy giving!!

The Chatterjee Family | Portrait Session

The Chatterjee’s were one of my last 2 sessions this fall! Wait, let me clarify — one of my last on-location sessions b/c somehow I’ve managed to do 6 indoors sessions or events this week too. They had scheduled one in late October and we had to cancel due to rain. I felt so badly b/c they had come down from NYC. Not b/c of me, necessarily, but Whitney’s mom lives in DC and their visit was two-tiered!! So since they were going to be back down for Thanksgiving weekend, we crossed our fingers for a good day and got one! Whitney’s mom gave them a gift card for this session as a Christmas gift last year (thanks Steph Aaronson for being my PR person at PBS!) and it took us a bit of time to schedule this given the distance!

Their little boy was glorious! I was in awe of his great demeanor and sweet soul. Check them out…

Jennifer & Taylor | Engagement Session

Okay, how cute is this couple? Jennifer and Taylor are getting married next April at St. Andrews Episcopal in Burke followed by a reception at The Waterford in Springfield. I love and admire them because they are both Special Ed teachers! That says so much to me about their hearts and their spirit. Can’t wait to work with them next year. They were troopers for this shoot — we headed out the weekend before Thanksgiving into Old Town and it was quite blustery and cold…but we walked around and had a great time and they kept each other warm snuggling!
